Can Women Preach the Gospel?

Permission to Preach

I remember watching my grandfather, Otis Hope, prepare for his Sunday messages while my grandmother, Allie Avis Hope, circled around him like a supportive whirlwind. She did everything from fetching extra white-out for his sermon booklets to cooking his dinner and typing up his outlines. Despite never learning to type, he earned his ministry degree with her help. She edited every sermon, typed every paper, and taught Sunday School for 42 years—yet she never got the credit. She never complained, and her humility and dedication are traits I aspire to embody.

Before God, my grandmother earned her crowns through service—both to my PawPaw and to the Lord. This is why women are not only allowed but called to speak. Men and women have different roles, and as we fulfill them, we also find our voices.

Can Women Preach the Gospel?

Women Can Preach the Gospel

Many women feel held back by the belief that they’re not allowed to preach. Perhaps your church never had women in the pulpit, except maybe on Mother’s Day. But remember, recognition from others doesn’t confirm your calling—God does.

Jesus used the woman at the well to tell her town, “Come and see” (John 4:25), and He used Mary to tell the apostles, “Go and see” (John 20:18). Jesus has given you permission—and a commission—to preach the Gospel (Matthew 28:19).

You don’t need to have all the answers; you just need to obey His call. As you step up and speak out, your understanding will grow. To help you on this journey, I’ve linked my top five resources for confidently declaring God’s Good News.

I didn't come from a ministry background, but when I married my husband in 2010 with an Interior Design degree from LSU and no seminary training, he welcomed me into the ministry. In 2012, a prophetic couple told me that I had the anointing of Lydia, and God wanted to use it to funnel millions through the Kingdom by starting online courses and classes. At this time, I had NO dream or even thought of Let’s Echo, but I received the word from the Lord.

Today, I'm witnessing that prophetic word coming true. You are a prophetic word fulfilled and a dream come true!

The Preacher Girl Club empowers women to use their voice for Jesus through our online coaching community, practical courses, and leadership resources. Our members collaborate, speak at each other's events, write content together, and start ministries side by side.

If I can preach, so can you!
