New Year, New Voice: How God Is Challenging Me in 2023

Permission to Preach

Happy 2023! Am I the only one who feels like this new year snuck up on me faster than I can say, “Where did 2022 go?” As I reflect on the past year and gear up for what’s ahead, I’m reminded that God is always in the business of growth—especially when it comes to our voices. Every year, I ask Him how He wants me to develop my voice and every year, He surprises me with a new challenge that stretches me beyond what I thought possible.

Permission to Preach - An Inside Look at What I've Done to Become a Better Preacher

Here’s a quick rundown of how God has developed my voice over the years:

  • 2017: I started by reading Proverbs 31 OUT LOUD 1000 times. Yes, you read that right. It was awkward at first, but it did wonders for my confidence.
  • 2018: I posted a 1-minute video every Thursday about a Scripture. Frustrating? Oh, absolutely. But it taught me how to communicate effectively in a short time.
  • 2019: I earned my Master’s in Theology. Talk about a confidence boost! It was hard work but taught me to think critically and stand firm in my beliefs.
  • 2020: I went LIVE on social media for 30 days straight. It took 21 days to feel comfortable, but I was a pro by the end.
  • 2021: I invested in a high-end coach. The growth was intense but worth every penny.
  • 2022: I wrote a daily devotional based on our Bible reading plan. By the end of the year, I had 365 devotional thoughts.

For 2023, God challenged me to dig deeper into His Word by verse mapping one verse a week. It’s a new way to study and understand Scripture, and I’m excited to see how it will impact my voice.

God didn’t call me to be a great speaker overnight; He called me to develop into one. And He’s asking the same of you. So, what’s one thing you can do this year to develop your voice? Ask Him—He’s faithful to answer.

Now it’s your turn! How have you been developing your voice, and what challenges is God placing on your heart this year to speak up for Him? Share your journey in the comments below—I can’t wait to hear how He’s working through you!

I didn't come from a ministry background, but when I married my husband in 2010 with an Interior Design degree from LSU and no seminary training, he welcomed me into the ministry. In 2012, a prophetic couple told me that I had the anointing of Lydia, and God wanted to use it to funnel millions through the Kingdom by starting online courses and classes. At this time, I had NO dream or even thought of Let’s Echo, but I received the word from the Lord.

Today, I'm witnessing that prophetic word coming true. You are a prophetic word fulfilled and a dream come true!

If I can preach, so can you!
