How Writing 365 Devos in 2022 Taught Me to Share God’s Word Confidently

Content Prep, Personal Growth, Practical Tips

Writing isn’t my forte. Grammar gives me hives, and commas seem to have a mind of their own. Yet, my passion for using my voice for God has led me to write a blog, daily Instagram posts, and devotions.

In 2022, God challenged me to write a daily devotional from a Bible Reading Plan—a daunting and unfamiliar task. But this journey taught me valuable lessons that can help you articulate God’s Word confidently. It’s more than just Christian writing tips. Here’s a summary of the yearly challenges I faced and the key takeaways:

  • 2017: Recited Proverbs 31 OUT LOUD 1,000 times.
  • 2018: Posted a 1-minute Instagram video each Thursday about a Scripture from my reading plan.
  • 2019: Earned a Master’s Degree in Practical Theology.
  • 2020: Went LIVE on Instagram for 30 days straight (I ended up doing 68).
  • 2021: Invested in an exceptional coaching program.
  • 2022: Wrote a daily devotional thought from the Bible Reading Plan.
  • 2023: Focused on verse mapping one verse per week from my Daily Bible Reading Plan.

More than just Christian writing tips, here are the five major lessons from writing 51,524 devotional words in 2022 that you can apply to your writing:

  1. Obedience Is Challenging: It’s not always easy when God calls you to a task. We might feel unprepared or overwhelmed, but consistent effort helps us grow into our calling.
  2. Not Everything Will Be Perfect: Writing is a practice, not a pursuit of perfection. It’s about learning to clearly and concisely articulate God’s message, even if initial drafts are rough.
  3. God Values His Message: Focusing on using your voice for God underscores His dedication to spreading His Word. Your efforts are significant in His plan.
  4. Habits Are Transformative: Committing to daily writing, though initially difficult, eventually became second nature. Regular practice reveals our potential and helps us grow.
  5. A Writing Limit Is Beneficial: The 500-word limit in the Bible app taught me to edit effectively and avoid rambling. Good editing is essential for clear and impactful communication.

Applying these lessons will enhance your writing skills, reduce intimidation, and boost enthusiasm. As you practice articulating your thoughts, your confidence will grow.

I didn't come from a ministry background, but when I married my husband in 2010 with an Interior Design degree from LSU and no seminary training, he welcomed me into the ministry. In 2012, a prophetic couple told me that I had the anointing of Lydia, and God wanted to use it to funnel millions through the Kingdom by starting online courses and classes. At this time, I had NO dream or even thought of Let’s Echo, but I received the word from the Lord.

Today, I'm witnessing that prophetic word coming true. You are a prophetic word fulfilled and a dream come true!
