Sermon Prep - Message Prep Checklist

Your Message Prep Checklist

1. Prioritize a Quiet Place

Message prep starts with clarity through focused preparation. Avoid noisy places like Starbucks, where distractions are inevitable. Instead, seek solitude—even if it’s uncomfortable at first. Find a quiet spot to calm your mind and tune into your spirit. Dedicate at least two hours, scheduled on your calendar, to make sure you’re giving it the attention it deserves.

2. Put Your Phone Away

Technology can be a double-edged sword. For message prep, it’s best to minimize distractions by putting your phone, smartwatch, and other devices aside. This discipline will help you focus on the task and ensure your mind and heart are fully engaged.

3. Use Your Hard Copy Bible

Start with your hard copy Bible. It’s a tangible way to connect with your notes and past revelations. Familiarizing yourself with the physical Bible can deepen your understanding and make navigation second nature.

4. Make Proper Use of Commentaries

Commentaries are valuable, but don’t let them overshadow your personal connection with the text. Use them as a backup, not a starting point. Let the Holy Spirit speak to you first before turning to external sources.

5. Use a Storage System

Honor the revelations you receive by organizing them systematically. Use the same tool consistently, whether it’s Google Docs, Microsoft Word, or Pages. This habit streamlines your process and allows you to focus on refining your message.

I didn't come from a ministry background, but when I married my husband in 2010 with an Interior Design degree from LSU and no seminary training, he welcomed me into the ministry. In 2012, a prophetic couple told me that I had the anointing of Lydia, and God wanted to use it to funnel millions through the Kingdom by starting online courses and classes. At this time, I had NO dream or even thought of Let’s Echo, but I received the word from the Lord.

Today, I'm witnessing that prophetic word coming true. You are a prophetic word fulfilled and a dream come true!

The Preacher Girl Club empowers women to use their voice for Jesus through our online coaching community, practical courses, and leadership resources. Our members collaborate, speak at each other's events, write content together, and start ministries side by side.
