Embracing Risk: What I Learned from Stepping Out in Faith in 2022

Personal Growth, Pioneers

The Bible is filled with stories of people who took bold risks with God. Think of Peter walking on water, Rahab protecting spies, or Abigail speaking up for her family. These acts of faith please God and show us that risk-taking is at the heart of our spiritual journey. For you, taking a risk might mean stepping out of your comfort zone, trying something new, or speaking up when it feels uncomfortable. Embrace the risk for your spiritual growth.

Risks I took in 2022 WITH GOD:

Reading the Bible with Friends

  • Risk: Starting a Bible reading plan with friends on @YouVersion, unsure if I’d stay consistent.
  • Outcome: Over 100 women joined. I wrote daily devotionals because I knew they were reading along with me.
  • Lesson: If self-discipline is hard, lean on your influence. The fear of letting others down can keep you accountable.

Planning the Party Wave

  • Risk: Inviting women nationwide to West Palm, FL, for a 5-year Echo celebration without knowing if anyone would come.
  • Outcome: Despite weather challenges, we filled the event. Women were inspired, and we celebrated God’s work.
  • Lesson: Big events are nerve-racking, but worth it. Allow double the time for setup, and focus on celebrating God’s work, not perfection.

Expanding Echo Weekend

  • Risk: Hosting 32 women at a hotel, losing some control and intimacy.
  • Outcome: The hotel added legitimacy and forced us to innovate. Small group dinners and dedicated communication kept everyone connected.
  • Lesson: God is faithful. Align your heart with His, and He’ll make a way. Intimacy can be maintained, even in larger settings.

Hosting a Last-Minute Small Group

  • Risk: Starting a small group within a week, worried about attendance and content.
  • Outcome: A consistent group of 6-7 women attended, refreshing my spirit and deepening relationships.
  • Lesson: Small groups foster discipleship. Numbers don’t matter when God is involved; relationships do.

Getting a Business Consultant

  • Risk: Exposing the messy backend of my business.
  • Outcome: Though challenging, God encouraged me through the process. The consultant’s guidance made God’s vision for Echo feel attainable.
  • Lesson: Echo is God’s, not mine. Relying on others is a sign that we’re on the right path.

Launching Preacher Girl Sweatshirts

  • Risk: Investing in merch without knowing if it would sell.
  • Outcome: I lost money but learned valuable lessons. The joy of seeing women preach in those sweatshirts was priceless.
  • Lesson: Starting out isn’t about profit but learning and joy. Even mistakes are fruitful.

Taking Risks with God in 2023

Don’t wait for opportunities—pray, seek, and step out. Be led by the Holy Spirit, take initiative, and don’t be afraid to fail forward. Document your journey and share it with others. Your experiences can encourage someone else to take their leap of faith.

I didn't come from a ministry background, but when I married my husband in 2010 with an Interior Design degree from LSU and no seminary training, he welcomed me into the ministry. In 2012, a prophetic couple told me that I had the anointing of Lydia, and God wanted to use it to funnel millions through the Kingdom by starting online courses and classes. At this time, I had NO dream or even thought of Let’s Echo, but I received the word from the Lord.

Today, I'm witnessing that prophetic word coming true. You are a prophetic word fulfilled and a dream come true!

The Preacher Girl Club empowers women to use their voice for Jesus through our online coaching community, practical courses, and leadership resources. Our members collaborate, speak at each other's events, write content together, and start ministries side by side.

If I can preach, so can you!
