This will Make your Speech Powerful and Impactful

Before calling comes cleansing. Pure hearts equal powerful speech.

God is always asking, “Who can we send to speak for us? Who will go on our behalf?” You see over and over in the metanarrative of Gods Word that your calling is always connected to your voice. The Holy Spirit needs more voices to declare Jesus’ saving power.

We know Isaiah for being a commissioned prophet of God. He famously said, “Here I am. Send me.” Isaiah’s calling was evident, but don’t miss what comes before he is able to answer the call… a cleansing that only God can give. 

You have been invited to respond to God’s need for voices. If you desire to speak for God, don’t be surprised if a purge comes first that feels like it may break you.

Pay attention to the order of events. Isaiah 6:6 gives you great insight into your process of being a vessel for God:

6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. 7 He touched my lips with it and said, “See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.”

Fire always symbolizes an act of sacrifice in order to purify. God used Isaiah to speak for Him, but He first made sure the words Isiaiah spoke came from a purified heart.

God will CLEANSE your mouth before His message can come through you. 

You can not do this yourself. Sit with God and ask Him to touch your lips with the coal and remove any stain of sin that may hinder His words coming through you. 

8 Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?”

God is a gentleman. He always gives you an opportunity to respond. If you choose to ignore Him or say no out of fear, He will ask someone else! He will not force you to answer the call…. What a sobering thought. 

Destiny does not answer the door. You have to take action. 

I said, “Here I am. Send me.”

You GET to say YES to God. No matter your past sins, failures or shortcomings, God will use your voice. Allow Him to do the cleansing work of purifying your mouth and motives. 

When God wants to use a person, He purifies them first! The fire is hot and hard but pure hearts produce powerful speech.

Note: God is ALWAYS purifying us in order to speak through us. Do not allow Satan to convince you that you are not “clean enough” or “good enough” to speak. Once you have this initial cleansing moment with God you are good to go. Once you GO, God will purify your motives on the way. Here is a great prayer to pray:

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14 NLT
