Why No One is Taking you Seriously as a Speaker (and how to change that!)

Helpful Resources

If you desire to speak for God and you want to speak with clarity and effectiveness, you must see speaking as a craft. Too many women see speaking as a gift from God where you either have it or you don’t. This is a very slick trick of the enemy to keep you silent.

Satan is very good at masking half-truths. The truth is, some people do have the gift of speaking which makes it easier for them to articulate their thoughts. It is also true to say you can become a great speaker, even if you were not born an orator. It is NOT true to think you must be born a speaker in order for God to use your voice. Just take a look at Moses from the Old Testament and Paul from the New Testament. Two of the most prominent Bible figures were both responsible for leading God’s people. Both were chosen by God to speak on His behalf. Both were highly educated. (Side note: Both were murderers). BOTH were outspoken about their lack of speaking ability. Neither claimed they were a born speaker, yet both became influential messengers of God.

You can BECOME an effective communicator when you see speaking as a craft you can master.

3 ways you can commit to the craft of speaking:

  • Review where you are and know where you want to go.

    1. How have you stepped out this year? Who have you preached to? How did your prep time go? How many people did you lead to Christ this year?

    2. Accept the fact that you may be terrible at first.

    3. The more reps you get in the better. Look at each time you get to speak as ONE step in your overall speaking journey.

  • Read the Bible daily and write out a thought each day.

    1. This may feel awkward at first.

    2. What you write may not make much sense, may sound silly to you, or may seem like you are rambling. IT IS OK!

    3. The more you write, the more you will learn to edit. This is the key to writing clearly. If you can think, write, and speak, you are unstoppable

  • Receive training.

    1. The more you learn about speaking, the more confident you will become.

    2. Each time you receive training your self-efficacy (an individual’s belief in his or her capacity to execute behaviors necessary to produce specific performance attainments) expands.

    3. Do not get overwhelmed. Read a book or take a class and then apply what you have learned at the scale on which you can.

I didn't come from a ministry background, but when I married my husband in 2010 with an Interior Design degree from LSU and no seminary training, he welcomed me into the ministry. In 2012, a prophetic couple told me that I had the anointing of Lydia, and God wanted to use it to funnel millions through the Kingdom by starting online courses and classes. At this time, I had NO dream or even thought of Let’s Echo, but I received the word from the Lord.

Today, I'm witnessing that prophetic word coming true. You are a prophetic word fulfilled and a dream come true!

The Preacher Girl Club empowers women to use their voice for Jesus through our online coaching community, practical courses, and leadership resources. Our members collaborate, speak at each other's events, write content together, and start ministries side by side.

If I can preach, so can you!
